Moving on Down?  As into downtown!!

The trend continues with companies both large and small looking to exchange their open landscape views and free parking in suburbia to the hustle and bustle of downtown Minneapolis, Uptown, and the North Loop submarkets.

The most recent large corporate announcement has Select Comfort leaving their 159,000 square foot suburban office building in the northeast corner of Plymouth along Highway 169 to move into downtown Minneapolis.  Select Comfort’s future building is more than a few blocks from Nicollet Mall on the corner of 3rd Avenue and 9th Street, but clearly the company is considering the ongoing generational shift, staffing concerns, and access to labor and mass transit that have caused many other notable companies to leave the burbs and move into “metropolis”.

Other notable companies that have made moves into the core are Arctic Cat (into the North Loop) and ECMC (downtown), and Varde Partners (downtown).
